Psalms 107:19-20
5
The Lord says,
“Because he is devoted to me, I will deliver him;
I will protect him because he is loyal to me.
When he calls out to me, I will answer him.
I will be with him when he is in trouble;
I will rescue him and bring him honor.
I will satisfy him with long life,
and will let him see my salvation.
Psalms 91:14-16
6
I sink into the deep mire
where there is no solid ground;
I am in deep water,
and the current overpowers me.
I am exhausted from shouting for help;
my throat is sore;
my eyes grow tired of looking for my God.
Psalms 63:2-3
7
For foreigners attack me;
ruthless men, who do not respect God, seek my life. (Selah)
Look, God is my deliverer!
The Lord is among those who support me.
May those who wait to ambush me be repaid for their evil!
As a demonstration of your faithfulness, destroy them!
With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you!
I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good!
Surely he rescues me from all trouble,
and I triumph over my enemies.
Psalms 54:3-7
8
In the path of righteousness there is life,
but another path leads to death.
Proverbs 12:28

Remember your word to your servant,
for you have given me hope.
This is what comforts me in my trouble,
for your promise revives me.
Psalms 119:49-50
10
Against hope Abraham believed in hope with the result that he became the father of many nations according to the
pronouncement, “so will your descendants be.” Without being weak in faith, he considered his own body as
dead (because he was about one hundred years old) and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver in unbelief about
the promise of God but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God. He was fully convinced that what God promised he
was also able to do.
Romans 4:18-21
11
The Lord is indeed going before you – he will be with you; he will not fail you or abandon you. Do not be afraid or
discouraged!”
Deuteronomy 31:8
12
For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the Lord. ‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give
you a future filled with hope.
Jeremiah 29:11
13
My child, pay attention to my words;
listen attentively to my sayings.
Do not let them depart from your sight,
guard them within your heart;
for they are life to those who find them
and healing to one’s entire body.
Guard your heart with all vigilance,
for from it are the sources of life.
Proverbs 4:20-23
14
Do you want to really live?
Would you love to live a long, happy life?
Then make sure you don’t speak evil words
or use deceptive speech!

Strive for peace and promote it!
Psalms 34:12-14

protect it, because it is your life.

yes, I help you –
yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand!

will never be thirsty.
John 6:63
20
The Spirit is the one who gives life; human nature is of no help! The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
John 6:63
21
But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of
God.’”
Matthew 4:4
22
“For if you forgive others their sins, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, your Father
will not forgive you your sins.
Matthew 6:14-15
23
But above all pursue his kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. So then, do not worry
about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:33-34
24
“Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the
flood came, and the winds beat against that house, but it did not collapse because it had been founded on rock. Everyone
who hears these words of mine and does not do them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the
flood came, and the winds beat against that house, and it collapsed; it was utterly destroyed!”
Matthew 7:24-27
25
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because
I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and my load is not hard to
carry.”
Matthew 11:28-30
26
Is this really the kind of fasting I want?
Do I want a day when people merely humble themselves,
bowing their heads like a reed
and stretching out on sackcloth and ashes?
Is this really what you call a fast,
a day that is pleasing to the Lord?
No, this is the kind of fast I want.
I want you to remove the sinful chains,
to tear away the ropes of the burdensome yoke,
to set free the oppressed,
and to break every burdensome yoke.
I want you to share your food with the hungry
and to provide shelter for homeless, oppressed people.
When you see someone naked, clothe him!
Don’t turn your back on your own flesh and blood!
Then your light will shine like the sunrise;
your restoration will quickly arrive;
your godly behavior will go before you,
and the Lord’s splendor will be your rear guard.
Then you will call out, and the Lord will respond;
you will cry out, and he will reply, ‘Here I am.’
Isaiah 58:5-9a
27
You must remove the burdensome yoke from among you
and stop pointing fingers and speaking sinfully.
You must actively help the hungry
and feed the oppressed.
Then your light will dispel the darkness,
and your darkness will be transformed into noonday.
The Lord will continually lead you;
he will feed you even in parched regions.
He will give you renewed strength,
and you will be like a well-watered garden,
like a spring that continually produces water.
Your perpetual ruins will be rebuilt;
you will reestablish the ancient foundations.
You will be called, ‘The one who repairs broken walls,
the one who makes the streets inhabitable again.’
You must observe the Sabbath
rather than doing anything you please on my holy day.
You must look forward to the Sabbath
and treat the Lord’s holy day with respect.
You must treat it with respect by refraining from your normal activities,
and by refraining from your selfish pursuits and from making business deals.
Then you will find joy in your relationship to the Lord,
and I will give you great prosperity,
and cause crops to grow on the land I gave to your ancestor Jacob.”
Know for certain that the Lord has spoken.
Isaiah 58:9b-14
28
In those days Hezekiah was stricken with a terminal illness. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz visited him and told him, “This
is what the Lord says, ‘Give your household instructions, for you are about to die; you will not get well.’” He turned his face
to the wall and prayed to the Lord, “Please, Lord. Remember how I have served you faithfully and with wholehearted
devotion, and how I have carried out your will.” Then Hezekiah wept bitterly.
Isaiah was still in the middle courtyard when the Lord told him, “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the leader of my people: ‘This is
what the Lord God of your ancestor David says: “I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Look, I will heal you. The
day after tomorrow you will go up to the Lord’s temple. I will add fifteen years to your life and rescue you and this city from
the king of Assyria.
2 Kings 20:1-6a
29
May the Lord protect him and save his life!
May he be blessed in the land!
Do not turn him over to his enemies!
The Lord supports him on his sickbed;
you completely heal him from his illness.
As for me, I said:
“O Lord, have mercy on me!
Heal me, for I have sinned against you!
Psalms 41:2-4
30
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live even if he dies, and the one who
lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” She replied, “Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the
Son of God who comes into the world.”
John 11:25-27
31
For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, regarding the affliction that happened to us in the province of
Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of living. Indeed we felt as if the
sentence of death had been passed against us, so that we would not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the
dead. He delivered us from so great a risk of death, and he will deliver us. We have set our hope on him that he will deliver
us yet again, as you also join in helping us by prayer, so that many people may give thanks to God on our behalf for the
gracious gift given to us through the help of many.
2 Corinthians 1:8-11
