(I.C) Teaching Parables About Prayer May 14, 2026May 14, 2026 NET Bible © 1. The Friend at Midnight (Luke 11:5- 8) Then he said to them, “Suppose one of you has a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say to him, ʻFriend, lend me three loaves of bread, because a friend of mine has stopped here while on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him.ʼ Then he will reply from inside, ʻDo not bother me. The door is already shut, and my children and I are in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything.ʼ I tell you, even though the man inside will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of the first manʼs sheer persistence he will get up and give him whatever he needs. Luke 11:5-8 2. The Unjust Judge (Luke 18:1- 8) Then Jesus told them a parable to show them they should always pray and not lose heart. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected people. There was also a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ʻGive me justice against my adversary.ʼ For a while he refused, but later on he said to himself, ʻThough I neither fear God nor have regard for people, yet because this widow keeps on bothering me, I will give her justice, or in the end she will wear me out by her unending pleas.ʼ” And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says! Wonʼt God give justice to his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he delay long to help them? I tell you, he will give them justice speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” Luke 18:1-8 Share this: Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Share on Threads (Opens in new window) Threads Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email Print (Opens in new window) Print Like this:Like Loading… Parables
